County, Chicas Locas reach tentative agreement

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) -- The controversial Chicas Locas night club and the County have reached a tenative agreement, according to KTEP public radio.
The County Attorney's Office also confirmed a settlement is being worked out.
A lengthy court hearing was held Monday, Nov. 25. The County had been seeking to shut down the club, which opened up in the former Jaguars site in East El Paso.
Casey Wallace, a private attorney for Chicas Locas, says a pending agreement with the El Paso County Attorney's Office will pave the way for the club to open in March, according to KTEP.
Wallace also told KTEP the club owners have gotten permitted work done satisfying requirements from the City of El Paso.
The two sides will have until Dec. 6 to finalize their agreement. The club will also have to show that they have hired off-duty police or level-4 security and they will have to pay "thousands of dollars in bonds," KTEP said.
The County Attorney's Office said late Monday night that the owners of Chicas Locas are agreeing to stay closed until March 1.
They will also surrender a $5,000 bond, place a new $10,000 bond, make attempts to hire off-duty law enforcement to work as security or have level 4 security officers in place when they open, make no appeals of this settlement and show compliance with the original agreement before opening.
