Minot Public Schools adapting to winter changes
Nov 25, 2024
MINOT, ND (KXNET) — With frequent weather changes and unpredictable winter conditions, the Minot School District is staying prepared so students remain engaged in the classroom.
Starting two winters ago, the Minot School Board adopted virtual learning, which allowed teachers to stay on curriculum with all students from kindergarten through 12th grade without having to cancel school or make a late start.
However, virtual learning does present its share of difficulties, as teachers often need advance notice to develop an education plan.

Minot Public Schools Superintendent, Dr. Scott Faul, says virtual learning isn't perfect, but it was the best option last Wednesday when heavy snowfall hit the Magic City.
"Snow accumulations and just the amount of snow coming down between the hours of 5:30, 7 and 8 and 9 were the wind was increasing and the wind was obviously wiping around and so the decision was to move to virtual, a little later than I would have like to make the call but that's the weather," explained Dr. Faul.
