BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Many people in the community lined up at Southern University's F.G. Clark Activity Center for Baton Rouge rapper Torrence "Lil' Boosie" Hatch and City Constable Terrica Williams' 6th annual Thanksgiving turkey giveaway event, this year it was in partnership with Southern University's Athletics.
Event Attendee Floyd Harris said he lives across from Southern University's campus and made it a mission to come out and get a free turkey.
"I'm an elderly single man, so it'll help me," said Harris. "I'm by myself. Cook me a little Thanksgiving dinner."
Along with turkeys, other items were given such as stuffing, sweet potatoes, and more. This is a yearly event hosted in different areas of the city, Hatch and Williams said the event this year has been the biggest one yet.
"This year is bigger than ever, though," said Williams. "But this what we love to do, and this is what he loves to do. So as long as he doing it, I'm doing it, We're going to be all right. Our community will be alright."
As Hatch gave out turkeys and greeted people, he emphasized the importance of giving back to Baton Rouge, the city where he grew up.
“I don't look for praise, I just want people to be grateful," said Hatch. "All my stories all my music. Baton Rouge, Come from Baton Rouge. So I feel like it’s my duty every year to give back to these kids and these families who are less fortunate."

Now as this Thanksgiving nears, Harris is grateful for people making a difference and hopes others follow in their footsteps during this holiday season.
"I think everybody should give back in one form or another because we have to have services for our people. I mean, whether its the kids, whether it's the elderly we should serve," said Harris.
