The Detroit Lions released their Week 13 initial injury report and six players were missing from Monday’s walkthrough, including Amon-Ra St. Brown. The Detroit Lions (10-1) are back home in Week 13, hosting division rival Chicago Bears (4-7) on Thanksgiving Day.
With the Lions playing on Thursday, this week is accelerated in its schedule, and Detroit will hold its first practice of the week on Monday. Because they are just coming off a road game on Sunday, the Lions are taking it slow to start the week and only holding a walkthrough practice. Unfortunately, these types of practices are not open to the media, and therefore, today’s injury report will be based on how the coaches estimate players would have participated, had there been a full practice.
Let’s take a look at Monday’s estimated injury report and get you up to date with what we know. Note that any changes from last week’s report will be bolded.
Injured reserve
DL John Cominsky (MCL) — injured reserve, could return in the playoffs
LB Alex Anzalone (forearm) — injured reserve, expected to miss 5-7 more weeks
LB Jalen Reeves-Maybin (neck) — injured reserve, eligible to return in Week 14
CB Ennis Rakestraw (hamstring) — injured reserve, eligible to return in Week 16
S Ifeatu Melifonwu (finger) — injured reserve, eligible to return in Week 16
Rakestraw unexpectedly showed up on last Friday’s injury report and by Saturday he was placed on injured reserve. Not much is known about Rakestraw’s injury beyond it being a hamstring, and with a range of recovery times, the Lions determined a stint on IR was the best path.
No practice
RB David Montgomery (shoulder) — Injured in Week 12
WR Amon-Ra St. Brown (knee) — NEW INJURY
WR Kalif Raymond (foot) — Injured in Week 12
LT Taylor Decker (knee, ankle) — Injured in Week 12
DT DJ Reader (illness) — New ailment
CB Carlton Davis (hand, knee) — Injured in Week 12
Montgomery exited the Colts game in the third quarter with a shoulder injury, and while he said he was cleared to return, coach Dan Campbell convinced him to sit out the remainder of the game with an eye on healing up for future games—potentially even this week vs. his former team.
St. Brown took a few low shots against the Colts, but he still managed to play 94% of snaps last Sunday. This could simply be a rest day or something that showed up after the fact. We’ll find out more as the week progresses.
Raymond injured his foot on a punt return and required a cart to leave the field. He was seen walking around the sidelines with a pretty noticeable limp, and coach Dan Campbell noted that Raymond’s injury was considered “a little more serious.”
Decker exited the Colts game with knee and ankle injuries, but he was able to return to action, and was only later removed once the game was firmly in hand. He told the media following the game that he expects to be good to go for Thanksgiving.
“I’ll be alright. I’ll be good to go,” Decker said. “Yeah, I should be good. I don’t know if I’m supposed to say that, but I’m good.”
Reader missed today’s walk-through with an illness, which is common this time of year. Hopefully, it’s something that passes quickly, but “illness” is such a broad category, that we’ll have to see how he progresses on Tuesday.
Davis injured his knee in the second half of the Colts game, and while he did not return to the game, he was seen riding the stationary bike on the sidelines, suggesting he was attempting to return to the game. Davis said the plan was to get his knee looked at on Monday and the the team would reassess his status.
Limited practice

Full practice
CB Terrion Arnold (groin) — Missed Week 12
Arnold showed up on last Thursday’s injury report with a groin injury, and while he got a full practice on Friday, he was downgraded to out on Saturday and did not travel with the team to Indianapolis. With an estimated full practice today, and two more games in the next 10 days, the Lions were likely being cautious with their first-round draft pick.
