(Courtesy: @WSSCWaterNews) Police say that Campbell was driving on New Hampshire Avenue around 4:40 a.m. on Sept. 8 when she hit 39-year-old Ernest Joseph Dyson of Clinton. Dyson was working for WSSC Water at the time of the crash. He died there. Montgomery County police: WSSC Water employee hit, killed by intoxicated driver MCPD said that Campbell was driving 10 mph over the posted speed limit and had a half-empty bottle of alcohol in the front passenger seat of her car. Her blood alcohol content was 0.19, which police said is over two times the legal limit. Officials charged Campbell with negligent manslaughter by vehicle, negligent homicide by vehicle while under the influence, driving on a suspended out-of-state license and driving an uninsured vehicle. In a statement on Monday, WSSC Water general manager and CEO Kishia Powell said WSSC Water will never forget Dyson, who worked there for nearly 18 years. Powell also said the company will seek legislation in the 2025 Maryland General Assembly to improve employee safety in work zones. "Ernest’s death is a sad reminder of the risks our front-line water heroes face serving our 1.9 million customers," Powell said, in part. "The bill, Ernest Dyson’s Law, will help keep our essential workers safe by using speed control systems in our work zones – similar to those used in highway work zones throughout Maryland. We look forward to working with our state representatives to pass this critical legislation, which will save lives.”
