Nov 25, 2024
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – Folks with Rochester Regional Health celebrated the passage of new legislation Monday, which allows certain team members to be granted "peace officer" status.
Peace officers will be specifically trained employees who enforce safety protocols within RRH facilities. They will also respond to emergencies and offer support to victims in urgent situations.
This is couples with things like added cameras, new lighting in parking lots and security training for team members.
"This milestone is not just about responding to threats; it's about creating an environment where everyone feels secure. Where our team members can focus on delivering compassionate care and our patients can heal without fear," said VP of safety and security Tim Tull.
Assemblymember Harry Bronson sponsored the bill.
