TOPEKA (KSNT) - It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas at the governor's mansion. The holiday season is just getting started at Cedar Crest. On Monday, Nov. 25, Governor Laura Kelly received a Christmas tree in a horse-drawn carriage—just in time for the holidays. Wild Heart Carriages made the carriage in Abilene, Kansas. Santa Claus even made a special appearance at the event. Meriden Christmas tree farm gets ready for busy season Every year, a local tree farm provides the tree. This year's Scotch Pine came from Fontana Pines, located in Fontana, Kansas. Many attended to celebrate and see the tree in its place inside the mansion. Seven Pines Christmas Tree Farm in Meriden presented the wreath for the second year in a row. 27 News spoke to Tami Pool with Seven Pines about what it means to be a part of such a special day. "It's just an honor to be able to come and be a part of this moment is pretty special," Pool said. "Just know that she is going to make her memories for Christmas around items that we have provided that were grown and made in Kansas." Other groups in attendance were members from the Kansas Forest Service, Kansas Tree Growers Association, Trees for Troops, and the Friends of Cedar Crest - who presented the governor with the first ornament.
