Topeka police 'working around the clock' after deadly pedestrian crash, shooting

TOPEKA (KSNT) - A City of Topeka spokeswoman said law enforcement is working hard to release an update on a recent deadly crash that claimed the life of a pedestrian while also investigating the Capital City's latest homicide case.
27 News reached out to City of Topeka staff and the Topeka Police Department on Monday, Nov. 25 for more information regarding the deadly vehicle vs. pedestrian crash last week. City spokeswoman Rosie Nichols said investigators are "working around the clock" to investigate a deadly north Topeka shooting that occurred on Nov. 24 and claimed the life of one individual. The identity of the shooting victim, the city's 19th homicide case of 2024, has yet to be released.
Nichols explained that some investigators who are working on the fatal crash are now having to shift focus to the deadly shooting case. The identity of the victim was released on Nov. 25 five days after the crash occurred.

Rollover crash reported in southwest Topeka
Topeka police were called around 6 p.m. on Nov. 20 to the 1900 block of Southeast Adams regarding reports of an injury crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. The man was taken to a local hospital where he later died of his injuries.
