Mountain snow beginning tonight

The weather will continue to warm up for most of New Mexico as snow moves into the Northern Mountains.
Westerly flow is increase across New Mexico and will be at its strongest tomorrow. This westerly flow will be bringing warmer than average temperatures to most of New Mexico. These warmer temperatures will not be lasting very long though. A backdoor cold front will begin making its way into New Mexico Tuesday Evening. The front will not move into central New Mexico until Tuesday.
This cold front will be bringing breezy to windy conditions to eastern and central New Mexico. The front will also bring a drop in temperatures. Thursdays high temperatures will be 10-15 degrees cooler than Tuesdays High Temperatures. Thursdays temperatures will be below average for this time in November.
The upper level jet is also drawing moisture into New Mexico. The began yesterday and will continue through Wednesday. The moisture will bring snow to the northern mountains. Due to the amount of forecasted snow, the National Weather Service has issued an advisory and a warning. The Advisory is for the Tusas Mountains including Chama where 5-10" of snow is expected above 8500'. This advisory will go into effect at 11p.m. November 25th and expire at 5p.m. November 27th. A Winter Storm Warning is in place for the San Juan Mountains from 11 p.m. November 25th through 5 a.m. November 28th. 8-25" of snow is possible above 10000'.
Spotty rain will accompany the mountain snow. This rain will reach as far south as the metro and will be the heaviest on Wednesday.
