The city of Riverside Fire Department is joining ABC7 and firefighters throughout Southern California in the Spark of Love toy drive from Nov. 11 to Dec. 13.
The campaign collects new, unwrapped toys, sports equipment, blankets and gift cards for underserved children and teens, from birth to age 17, in Riverside, San Bernardino, Los Angeles, Orange and Ventura counties. Over the past two and a half decades the Spark of Love toy drive has collected more than 9 million toys, according to a news release.
In Riverside, donations can be dropped off between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. at any of the 14 city fire stations. If firefighters are away, donations should not be left outside the fire stations, but should be taken to the city’s main collection point, Cesar Chavez Community Center, 2060 University Ave.
