Colder days coming our way
Nov 25, 2024
Our winds are picking up tonight with a weather system moving through the region. The S/SW winds reach gust speeds up to 30 mph by this evening.
Gusty winds will be likely through the evening and overnight
Low temps will fall to near freezing by daybreak.
After a warm November Monday, a chill is back in the air tonight.
We've had a scattered rain chance during the day and this potential lingers till just after midnight into early tomorrow. Colder air rushes in tomorrow behind today's system, and we'll see a mostly sunny sky. However, colder air from the west will mean highs only reach to around 40° tomorrow.
We stay in the 40s Wednesday with our next weather system moving in and there is the potential of some wintry impacts to the area. Wednesday could start with a few scattered snow showers that change over to rain during the day as temps rise. By Wednesday night, the rain will be mixed with snow, if not become all snow, at times, overnight into Thanksgiving morning.
A few snow showers are possible as early as Wednesday morning, but the best chance is Wednesday night into Thanksgiving. Total amounts are expected to be light with only a slight chance of a scattered snow shower during the daytime on Thanksgiving.
Accumulation amounts will not be very high - around an inch or less as things stand now. Some spots north of Fort Wayne may not pick up any snow, based on the current track. However, confidence is currently low regarding the track and the timing of the potential for rain/snow. Where this holiday system tracks will ultimately determine what form of precipitation we experience. Remember, if the system stays far enough south, we would not see any precipitation at all in our region, or it could track just right for measurable amounts of rain and/or snow. Stay tuned for updates!
Regardless of where this system tracks, there is a high probability of us seeing a cold start to December, with highs only in the upper 20s to around 30° after Thanksgiving! Dig out those heavy coats, hats, and gloves! This cold stretch starts on Black Friday and continues Saturday and Sunday, too.
