CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Sir Purr, the beloved and iconic mascot of the Carolina Panthers, will join students at Nations Ford Elementary School for a joyful celebration of creativity and culture with their own version of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. This special event is the culmination of a hands-on learning experience for first-grade students, who have spent two flex days exploring the history and traditions of the Thanksgiving parade. They’ve read stories, learned how parade balloons are designed, and brought their imaginations to life by creating their own balloon characters. On parade day, these students—joined by kindergartners—will showcase their creations in a schoolwide “Balloons Over Broadway” parade, spreading excitement and school pride. Sir Purr’s visit, made possible through the generous support of the Carolina Panthers Community Relations team, adds extra cheer to this memorable occasion and highlights the power of community partnerships in education.
