WEDDINGTON, NC – A fuel air explosion is being blamed for causing damage to a home in Weddington and hurting two people.
The explosion happened on November 17, 2024 at a home on Steeple Chase Circle.
The Union County Fire Marshal’s Office says the fuel air explosion happened in the garage and was an accident.

Investigators say they identified three potential sources of ignition, but they have not determined the exact cause.
Officials said two people were inside the home at the time of the explosion.
A man was flown to Wake Forest Baptist Burn Center in critical condition. The man has been released from the hospital and is recovering from his injuries.
A woman was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
