MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCBD) – Police in Mount Pleasant are investigating after an individual stole about $1,000 in merchandise from a Dick’s Sporting Goods over the weekend. An officer was dispatched to the Dick’s on Bowman Road Sunday around 2:15 p.m. for a report of a theft that had just occurred. Once the officer arrived, the store manager showed him video footage of a man leaving the store with a shopping cart full of Nike fleece sweaters, according to a Mount Pleasant Police Department incident report. The manager told police that four men are suspected of being involved, although only one pushed the shopping cart of stolen goods outside the store. Two men walked into the store together. Then another man in a jogging suit walked in. About three minutes later, the suspect who took the shopping cart walked out alongside the man in the jogging suit. The manager told police that he didn’t see everything the suspects stole but estimated the cart to be about $1,000 of store items. One of the responding officers had patrolled the parking lot a few minutes before the theft occurred and said they saw three of the four suspects from the store video walk in front of their car. He said they had gotten out of a black Honda sedan parked near the Nordstrom Rack. When the officer went back to the parking spot after learning of the theft, a Dick's shopping cart was left in the spot where the sedan was previously parked, the report states.
