Nov 25, 2024
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- The California Highway Patrol is set to activate its Thanksgiving Maximum Enforcement Period starting Wednesday evening.
CHP officers will be on patrol promoting safe driving and ensuring seatbelt safety throughout California highways, officials said.
The Maximum Enforcement Period is set to start Nov. 27 at 6:01 p.m. and run through 11:59 on Dec. 1, according to a release.
CHP officials said in 2023, the Thanksgiving enforcement period resulted in the arrest of 1,047 drivers suspected of driving under the influence, and investigated 27 fatal crashes across California under the CHP's jurisdiction.
Officials urge all drivers to use caution on the roads, to wear seatbelts and avoid any driving while intoxicated.
