Jerry Jeudy wants to send message to Broncos when Browns meet them in Denver
Nov 25, 2024
The Denver Broncos thought so much of Jerry Jeudy that they used the 15th overall pick to select him in the 2020 draft. Then they thought so little of him that they swapped him to the Browns in March of this year for a fifth-round and sixth-round pick in the draft this past April.
Jeudy notched 79 receiving yards against the Ravens, 73 against the Chargers, 142 against the Saints and 85 against the Steelers. Jameis Winston was the Browns’ quarterback in all four games.
Jeudy is happy to be in Cleveland, but he is looking forward to the “Monday Night Football” game with the Broncos on Dec. 2 in Denver because he wants to show them what they gave away for such a cheap price.

“It’s going to be very exciting,” Jeudy said Nov. 25 in the Browns’ locker room. “We want to go out there and win the game.
“You always want to beat your former team. I want to go out there and play the best I can and show them what they could have had.”
Jeudy’s best season with the Broncos was 2022 when he caught 67 passes for 972 yards and six touchdowns. He has 45 catches for 645 yards and two TDs this season with six games remaining. He is on pace for 70 catches for 977 and three touchdowns.
Jeudy will set career highs in receptions and yards receiving at his current pace, but it might not happen because Winston has shown he will spread the ball around.
Elijah Moore had a team-high eight catches against the Ravens on Oct. 27 in Winston’s first start. Cedric Tillman had a team-most 99 receiving yards in the same game. Jeudy led with seven catches against the Chargers, but Tillman again led with 75 receiving yards. Tight end David Njoku caught nine passes against the Saints while Jeudy led with his 142 receiving yards. Jeudy led with six catches and 85 yards against the Steelers.
“If everyone touches it, it keeps the defense honest,” Njoku said. “They have to respect everybody. We’re all playmakers.
“The next step is being more in sync, more of that chemistry. We gain energy off each other.”
Head coach Kevin Stefanski handed play-calling to offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey at the same time Winston took over at quarterback. Deshaun Watson started the first seven games. The Browns failed to score 20 points in any game Watson started. They crossed that threshold with Winston at quarterback against the Ravens and Steelers and won both games.
Stefanski isn’t calling plays, but he is still the one players go to to say, “Hey, Coach, I’m open.”
“You’re always trying to spread the ball around,” Stefanski said before practice Nov. 25. “You want your running backs catching the ball — your tight ends, wide receivers. It makes life a little more difficult on the defense when you can get five guys out and they have to account for every guy.
“Obviously, guys like catching the football. I’ve heard once or twice, ‘I’m open!’ I talked to David. He’s apparently always open. But you do want to spread the ball around.”
Winston has completed 107 of 172 passes (62.2 percent) for 1,266 yards with seven touchdowns and four interceptions.
Watson completed 137 of 216 passes (63.4 percent) for 1,148 yards with five touchdown passes and three interceptions before a ruptured right Achilles tendon suffered playing the Bengals on Oct. 20 ended his season.
