National gun violence prevention organization gives $10,000 to New Mexico group

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Every Town for Gun Safety, a gun violence prevention organization, is giving $10,000 to the Coalition to Stop Violence against Native Women. That group is a domestic violence prevention organization in Albuquerque.

The coalition says the money will be critical in addressing the overlap in gun violence and domestic violence. According to Every Town for Gun Safety, an average of 76 women are shot and killed by an intimate partner every month. The organization says in an average year, 526 people die and 821 are injured by guns in New Mexico, with gun violence costing the state $6.6 billion per year.
