Wintry to the north but mild dry weather elsewhere

NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – Dry air is once again the big weather story this morning in the Land of Enchantment, as well as the Four Corners, accompanied with some fast-moving passing clouds, as well as mostly calmer winds, as morning low temperatures are higher compared to yesterday, ranging from the high teens to even the lower 60s from northwest to southeast in lower elevation.

However, afternoon temperatures will be mostly lower than yesterday, especially in the Northeast Highland communities that will be set to experience below-normal high temperatures, contrary to most other areas. With some passing clouds with only some snow flurries in the Northwestern Mountains with perhaps some sprinkles farther to south, temperatures will still be above normal, but they will be lower than yesterday because of a weak backdoor front bringing in northeasterly winds in the eastern half of New Mexico, with lighter westerly winds to the west.
From the morning school commute on into the afternoon, temperatures will mostly eventually reach into the high 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, and lower 70s from north-northeast to south-southwest in lower elevation.
Temperatures will briefly rebound for the southern three-fourths of the region tomorrow, but as the Jet Stream to the north moves southward in the northern tier of the region, more clouds with chilly rain showers in the northern-valley floors, as well as some heavier mountain snow, will ensue through the first few days of this week before Thanksgiving. Before the precipitation ramps up for some, westerly winds will pick up tomorrow in the higher elevations, as well as in the East Plains especially, strong enough for more-widespread blowing dust and some blowing snow in the higher terrain with the elevated fire risk, also because of the low humidity.
