ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – For a second straight game the University of New Mexico Men's Basketball team would have a sluggish first half, but once again they turn it on in the 2nd half to win by a large margin. Outscoring Texas Southern 61-37 in the 2nd half, UNM wins their 2nd straight game at home, 99-68.
Fernando Lovo named as UNM athletic director
"I thought we were missing some open looks in the first half that we obviously converted on in the 2nd half. We continue to turn teams over at a high rate. Obviously having some guards in CJ with 8 rebounds and Tru with 10 rebounds is good," said UNM Men's Basketball Head Coach Richard Pitino.
Five UNM scorers finished in the double figures, getting a game high of 19-points and 10-rebounds from Tru Washington. Overall the Lobos continue to cause disruptions with deflections and steals, as they finished with 10 steals and forced 20 turnovers.
Now 5-1 on the season, UNM moves on to play two tough games on the road. The Lobos will play at this years Acrisure Classic in Palm Springs, California. UNM opens play with Arizona State on Thursday at 9:30pm.
