Steve Gleason recovering after 'traumatic accident'
Nov 25, 2024
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Former New Orleans Saints and legend Steve Gleason is recovering after suffering a "traumatic" accident on Sunday, Nov. 24.
His team posted to X(Twitter) that the accident happened as he exited his van just before Gleason was set to speak at the Gleason Life Skills Volleyball Clinic.

Miraculously, he was spared greater injury because he was strapped into his wheelchair and because of the swift action of his care team, a passerby doctor, and family.
I guess his van is preparing him for his fight against Jake Paul.
He is at home resting and grateful for this crazy wonderful life and the support and love from everyone.

Gleason retired as a New Orleans Saints safety in 2008 and was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease in 2011. He has since been an advocate for those also diagnosed with ALS.
