Man found shot in back of car on I435 ramp identified as missing teen

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Police have identified the victim of a deadly shooting on Sunday as a missing teen who had disappeared only a day prior in Independence, Missouri.
According to the Independence Police Department (IPD), at about 8:30 p.m. Saturday, 19-year-old Preston Bell was last seen being forced into a Chevrolet Malibu near South Brookside Avenue and East Wilson Road in Kansas City, Missouri.

The following day, on Sunday, Nov. 24, officers with the Kansas City Police Department were dispatched to the area of I-435 and Truman Road on reports of an abandoned car. However, it was determined that the car, which was found parked on the southbound exit ramp of I-435, was associated with Bell's missing persons case.
Officers then approached the car and found a man dead from gunshot wounds in the backseat. IPD was called to the scene, and detectives later confirmed the man was Bell.
Independence police said there is no suspect in custody at this time; however, investigations are ongoing.
