BearCat, drones used to arrest man in Marinette County following a shooting incident

ATHELSTANE, Wis. (WFRV) - Authorities in Marinette County say one man was arrested Sunday morning after he allegedly fired a gun at a vehicle.
According to a release from the Marinette County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded at 10:51 to Smiley Road in the Town of Athelstane after a caller reported a man firing a handgun into the ground near their vehicle which had multiple passengers inside.
Officials say that after the man allegedly shot at the vehicle, he walked to a nearby home and armed himself with a shotgun.
Deputies, along with several respondents from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources were able to set up a perimeter at the location.
Disturbance leads to early morning pursuit in Appleton, suspect in custody
The Marinette Special Response Team and BearCat, the Marinette County Drone Team, and the Wisconsin DNR Drone team were called to the scene and were able to observe the man walking back and forth in a driveway near the incident while still armed with the long gun.
While using the armored rescue vehicle, members of the Marinette Special Response Team were able to contact the man and take him into custody without any further incident.
The Marinette County Sheriff's Office says it is referring 1st Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety charges to the Marinette County District Attorney's Office.
No other information is available at this time and an investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
