Charlotte holiday garbage and recycling collection schedule

CHARLOTTE, NC – City of Charlotte Solid Waste Services will not collect garbage, recycling, yard waste and scheduled bulky waste on Thursday, Nov. 28, in observance of Thanksgiving Day.
Solid Waste Services will operate on a one-day delay following the holiday, with Thursday customers receiving collection on Friday, Nov. 29, and Friday customers receiving service on Saturday, Nov. 30. It is a green recycling collection week.
Christmas Collection Schedule
Solid Waste Services will observe the Christmas holiday and will not collect garbage, recycling, yard waste and scheduled bulky waste on Wednesday, Dec. 25. Collection services from Wednesday, Dec. 25, through Friday, Dec. 27, will operate on a one-day delay, with Friday customers receiving service on Saturday, Dec. 28. It will be a green recycling week.
New Year’s Collection Schedule
Solid Waste Services will collect garbage, recycling, yard waste and bulky waste on the regular schedule the week of Jan. 1. It will be an orange recycling collection week.
Christmas Tree Collection Schedule
Natural Christmas tree collection will begin on Jan. 1. Trees should be placed at the curb for yard waste collection. Trees should be free of lights, decorations, tinsel, etc. Artificial trees should be scheduled for bulky item collection. You can schedule bulky items by calling 311, or clicking here.
Solid Waste Services offers collection updates via text. Residents who would like to receive updates regarding impacts to their collection service can text their day of service to 73224. For example, if their collection day is Thursday, they would text “Thursday” to 73224.
