Taxes are going up January 1 in these ND cities

(KXNET) — Starting January 1, local sales and use taxes will be going up in several communities. Among them:
Ashley – Local sales, use, and gross receipts tax rate increasing to 2% from 1%.
Mandan – Local sales, use, and gross receipts tax rate increasing to 2.25% from 1.75%
Turtle Lake – Local sales, use, and gross receipts rate increasing to 3% from 2%
Wahpeton – Removing the maximum tax (refund cap) of $50.00 and removing the 3% compensation discount for permit holders.
North Dakota cities and counties have the authority to impose sales and use taxes, as well as special taxes including lodging taxes, lodging and restaurant taxes, and motor vehicle rental taxes. New local taxes and adjustments to existing ones become effective on the first day of each calendar quarter.
