FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) —  Five people were arrested in Fall River on various drug charges and active warrants on Saturday. According to the Fall River CAST Team, which is the Community Action and Suppression Team that focuses on quality of life issues in neighborhoods, members of the team conducted a search warrant on two homes.  The target of the search warrant was Jillian Varela. As a result of the search warrant on Varela, an amount of crack cocaine and fentanyl was seized from the residence. Varela was charged with possession of a class A drug subsequent offense and possession of a class B drug subsequent offense.   The target of another search warrant down the street was John Teixeira, according to officials. As a result of the search warrant an amount of crack cocaine was seized from the residence.  Teixeira was placed under arrest and charged with possession of a class B drug. Tanya Correa and Carlos Lima were located inside of the residence and were placed under arrest for charges pertaining to active warrants.  Melissa McDermott also was inside of the residence and was found to be in possession of Suboxone.  McDermott was summoned into court for the charge of possession of a class B drug.
