More help is coming to Perry County for flood relief. $12.6 million is coming from community develop block grant disaster relief funds. This is part of $300 million of support for eastern Kentucky. During a press conference with the governor last week, Perry County Judge Executive Scott Alexander thanked Governor Beshear for the help with flood recovery. “This is such a critical need in an area that got devastated by the flooding and we cannot thank the governor enough for all the help he has done up to this point and continuing to do to help us recover from that.” Governor Beshear explained how some of these funds will be used in Perry County. “We’re award $2.8 million to extend first time sewer service along highway 28. This was a hard hit area during the floods. The area is currently served by septic systems which were damaged in the flooding.” That service will run along Kentucky Highway 28 from Haddock Fork to Kentucky Highway 15 in Hazard.
