INDIANAPOLIS — A 14-year-old boy was arrested after a stabbing incident on the northeast side of Indianapolis on Saturday night.
A public police report confirms IMPD officers responded to the 4100 block of Denali Drive — which is located near the intersection of 42nd Street and North County Line Road — around 11:17 p.m. to investigate a stabbing.
Police reported that the weapon the juvenile arrestee allegedly used during the incident was a silver kitchen knife. The report indicates the victim is a female, though it does not specify her age.
The juvenile arrestee has been preliminarily charged with aggravated battery that poses a substantial risk of death to the victim — a Level 3 Felony. The maximum penalty for such a crime in the Hoosier State is a 16-year prison sentence and a fine of up to $10,000.
As of this article's publication, little additional information on the stabbing had been made available, including the medical condition of the victim. It is also currently unclear whether or not the arrestee will be formally charged as an adult or if his case will play out in Indiana's juvenile court system.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
