When the match began and the big screen brightened with images from Orlando, cheers began coming from the crowd. Moments later, a save from Atlanta goalkeeper Brad Guzan earned cheers of “Guuuzzzzz”. The noise level lowered a bit after Orlando went ahead 1-0 in the 39th minute, but the crowd remained in tune with the match throughout despite their team going into halftime behind 1-0. When Dax McCarty, who is planning to retire at the conclusion of the season, subbed out of the match in the 68th minute, he received an ovation. Chants of “Atlanta. United.” began around the 80th minute of the match with the team still behind by a goal. Chants of “ref, you suck” took place following a rough tackle near the Orlando goal. The passion from the Atlanta United supporters never waned during the watch party. When seven minutes of stoppage time was put on the scoreboard more cheers filled the air.The match ended with Atlanta losing 1-0 and its season ending. People hugged, some yelled, while others simply walked off. All were united for the entirety of the match. One man screamed, “Disney sucks” as the final whistle blew.Photo by Donnell Suggs/The Atlanta VoiceThe post Atlanta United fans gather to watch playoff match at Sweetwater Brewing Company appeared first on The Atlanta Voice.
