Food and clothing drive held for veterans and their families

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) - The Northampton Elks Lodge is holding a food and clothing drive for local veterans and their families on Sunday.
Community event brings people together to recognize International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day
The drive will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Northampton Elks Lodge in Florence.
All canned goods, nonperishable food items, and clothing donated with be distributed by the Veterans Food Pantry to local veterans suffering from food insecurity. According to the Military Family Advisory Network, one in five veterans suffers from food insecurity nationally, which is nearly double the average for the general population.
The holidays are an especially crucial time to donate, and you could help make someone's holiday a little brighter. Lou Gringas of the Northampton Elks said besides food, this year they are especially looking for sweatpants and underwear size large and extra large. They will also accept monetary donations, which can go a long way.
If you are unable to drop off items at the Elks but would still like to donate, you can do so at the Veterans Food Pantry in Leeds each weekday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
