SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WSPA) - The Spartanburg Police Department said they arrested a man for attempting to set his husband on fire. Police said they responded to a domestic disturbance on Amos Street, where a victim was loaded into an ambulance and taken to the hospital. The victim stated that his husband, 58-year-old Eugene Rice, attempted to argue with him while he was headed to work. The victim told police that during one of the arguments, Rice said that "he was going to kill him." Rice left the room and returned with a bottle of rubbing alcohol, spraying it on the victim and lit him on fire. The victim removed his hoodie and began rolling around, trying to put the fire out. Rice fled the residence. Police said the victim had burns on his left hand and his left ear, his eyes were cloudy and red, and that his hair was burned. Rice was arrested and charged with aggravated domestic violence.
