CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WGHP) — Charlotte Hornets forward Grant Williams will be listed as out of the current season indefinitely after suffering a knee injury during Saturday night's game against the Milwaukee Bucks, the team announced Sunday. According to a press release, MRI results revealed a "preliminary diagnosis of an anterior cruciate ligament tear in his right knee." The injury occurred late in the fourth quarter of the game. Williams was hurt on a drive to the basket with just under four minutes remaining with the Bucks leading 114-101. Williams appeared in 16 contests (seven starts) this season, recording 10.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.1 steals in 29.9 minutes per game. Williams, a native of Charlotte who the Hornets acquired in a trade with the Dallas Mavericks on Feb. 8, holds career averages of 7.2 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 380 appearances (108 starts) across six NBA seasons. He was selected in the first round (22nd overall) of the 2019 NBA Draft by the Boston Celtics. Updates on his status will be provided as appropriate, the Hornets say.
