FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - Former Highlight Zone star and NFL veteran linebacker Jaylon Smith is back in town for a good cause this weekend. The Bishop Luers grad hosted a turkey drive at the Chateau on Broadway on Sunday ahead of Thanksgiving week.
A former standout at Bishop Luers and Notre Dame, Smith has played seven seasons in the NFL since being drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in 2016. Smith's last appearance in the NFL was in 2023, when the linebacker signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers' practice squad.
This fall, Smith returned to Fort Wayne to help out North Side football. The former Highlight Zone star served as an assistant coach on Ben Johnson's staff.
Along with Sunday's turkey drive, Smith and his business, The Cycle Management group, will continue their turkey drive on Monday from 3 - 6:30 p.m.
