Magnificent Monday, Thanksgiving trending wetter
Nov 24, 2024
We put the “sun” in Sunday this afternoon as highs continued their upward trend into the 50s and 60s to close out the weekend. Expect even warmer air to arrive on Monday; most communities will be in the 60s and 70s as we kick off the workweek. Enjoy the good times while they last, because the back half of the week is looking soggy. A weak cold front will push into the Carolinas overnight Monday into Tuesday, but most of the limited moisture will get hung up in the mountains. That said, you should stay weather-wise for a few showers – and maybe even a rumble of thunder or two – during your Tuesday morning commute as lows only dip in the 40s and 50s.
Expect a mostly cloudy, but otherwise uneventful day on Wednesday as the majority of highs rise into the 50s and 60s. If you’re heading to the Novant Health Thanksgiving Eve Parade Wednesday night, pack a light jacket – lows will be in the 50s – and some rain gear, just in case. Although the Charlotte area should remain dry through midnight, a few showers may roll into the Metro ahead of Thursday’s system. Thanksgiving is looking like a mess. A moisture-laden area of low pressure will sweep into the Carolinas from the southwest, bringing widespread rain throughout much of the day. A few thunderstorms are also possible, especially to the south and east, on our Turkey Day, but severe weather shouldn’t be an issue. Get ready for a bitterly cold weekend after – Charlotte should prepare for its first freeze of the season come Saturday morning.
