Who are the big winners going to be for this year’s Tony Fisher and Bob Ritley Awards? You’ll have to be at the Hooley Pub & Kitchen on Nov. 25 to find out first-hand. The 2024 Tony Fisher and Bob Ritley Awards — which go to The News-Herald’s football player of the year and coach of the year, respectively — will be announced during a special edition of the Varsity Chalk Talk show on Nov. 25, The show starts at 6 p.m. and a standing-room-only crowd is expected. The five Fisher Award finalists are, in alphabetical order, Scotty Fox of Mentor, Chris Maloney of Benedictine, Walter Moses of Perry, Cooper Panteck of Gilmour and Frankie Trinetti of Lake Catholic. The five finalists for the Bob Ritley Award are, in alphabetical order, Matt Gray of Mentor, Tom Kaufman of Gilmour and Tiger LaVerde of Kirtland. Each of the finalists will have a table reserved for them and their guests, but others coming to the show are encouraged to call Hooley for reservations at 440-942-6611. Each finalist will be brought up on the stage for a short interview before each award is announced and presented.
