ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – Officers with the Rochester Police Department say a man in his 20s has died after being stabbed overnight Sunday. Officers say the stabbing happened at E.L. Tower on South Avenue shortly after 2 a.m. When they arrived to the scene, officers found a man laying on the 4th floor hallway with a stab wound to his chest. Officers administered first aid and then AMR took the man to URMC. The man was pronounced dead shortly after arriving to URMC.
"At the security desk of the building there was a tenant of the building who admitted to stabbing the victim, stating it was in self-defense," officers said. "This individual remained cooperative with investigators, was interviewed and provided a statement."
According to the RPD, the deceased victim was a guest of the tenant who stabbed him, not a resident of the building. This was an isolated incident and there's no danger to the other residents.
The case will be presented to the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office for further review. No charges have been filed at this time.
