Euclid officials have announced that they will be returning to the Shore Cultural Centre, 291 E. 222nd St., on Dec. 6 for their Holiday Lighting event combined with an artisan Flea Market. Laura Kidder, manager at Shore Cultural Centre, said she was happy to be holding the lighting event again. This year they will have personalized 4-by-6-foot “Christmas Cards” that were designed by residents and local businesses outside, she said. She said the pine tree that will be the focus of attention for the night was donated by a Euclid resident and that Santa and Mrs. Claus should be appearing with the help of a Euclid Fire Department ladder truck. “To add a personal touch, we’re excited to showcase holiday cards created by our talented residents, businesses, and city staff,” Kidder wrote in a statement. “Our elves are hard at work preparing for the annual Holiday Lighting event. We’re incredibly grateful to our dedicated volunteers from Progressive who’ve already helped us inspect displays, prepare garland and wire ornaments for our 20-foot pine tree, generously donated by Euclid resident Fred Mastalski and transported by Secrist Tree Service.” Progressive Insurance volunteers ready Euclid’s Shore Cultural Centre for holiday cheer She wrote that the Parks and Recreation Department and employees with the service department helped put up the decorations and that the collaboration among city departments helped make planning the event successful. “You’ll find a charming guard house, a friendly waving snowman, a jolly Santa, and fun face-cutout photo opportunities,” Kidder continued. “Don’t forget to drop off your letter to Santa in his mailbox located on the steps in front of the Shore Cultural Centre.” The celebrations, which will kick off at 6 p.m., will provide free hot chocolate to visitors as they walk around the grounds of the center where there will be ice carving, face painting, food trucks and a train ride in the Triangle Park area.
