Another mild day Sunday for most before colder air moves in
Nov 24, 2024
What We’re Tracking
Mild again Sunday
Cold front arrives late
Chilly heading into the holiday
Temperatures this morning are mild in the upper 40s and low 50s for most. For reference, our average high for this time of year is 51°. We'll warm up nicely yet again this afternoon with highs topping out in the middle 60s, near 10-15 degrees above average. Winds will stay from the south, which will contribute to warmer temperatures.
A cold front is already starting to move through portions of the area, bringing in colder air along with it. Those further north and west will struggle to warm up today into some 50s before we all feel the colder air later tonight.
It's possible a stray shower or two moves through Monday although most stay dry. It's also possible that they will be in the form of a few snowflakes although won't amount to anything. The colder air will force our temperatures into the low 40s for highs and we'll struggle in those 40s through much of the holiday week.
Our next storm system is expected to arrive just before Thanksgiving, bringing a blast of even colder air for the holiday. Precipitation is likely to return by Wednesday evening, primarily in the form of rain showers. However, it's still too early to rule out the possibility of a few snowflakes on Wednesday. Models are starting to push this system a little further south and if that's the case, not everyone will see precipitation.
Thanksgiving itself should remain mostly dry as of now, but temperatures will suffer as we struggle to even get out of the upper 30s. By Friday morning, low could drop into the upper teens, definitely a cold one for those planning on Black Friday shopping!
