ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – Abilene hosted a Friendsgiving with a night of folk music to benefit the homeless in Rochester Saturday night.

Those who attended were asked to bring $10 or $5 and a donation of socks or winter gear to Abilene Bar and Lounge on Liberty Pole Way. The concert aimed to benefit multiple local organizations who help the homeless. Organizer Travis Prinzi said Saturday's turnout was more than he'd expected.
"It's getting cold now, there are people who've fallen on hard times. Most of us are a paycheck of two away from hard times. It could be any of us," said Prinzi. "So, we have a great music community in Rochester coming together and doing something to support."
Prinzi said the organizations seeing the benefits of this concert include The House of Mercy, Open Door Mission and Dimitri House.
The event used to be an annual endeavor hosted by The Brothers Blue, but according to Prinzi, it hasn't happened the last few years. He said now that his band has taken over, he hopes to continue it annually.
