We ended the workweek with the coldest air we’ve seen in eight months, but temperatures go into recovery mode this weekend. Sunny skies and southwesterly winds will aid temperatures in their journey over the next several days, rising from the mid-60s on Sunday to near 70º on Monday and Tuesday across the Piedmont and Foothills. The High Country, fresh off its first significant snowfall of the season, will see some good melting conditions as highs reach well into the 50s. A weak cold front approaches from the northwest by Tuesday afternoon, which could bring a few showers to the WCCB Charlotte viewing area, but most of the limited moisture will end up in the mountains. Expect a mostly cloudy Thanksgiving Eve as highs slide back near 60º in the Metro. Most of us will miss out on Tuesday’s rain, but we won’t be so lucky later in the week as a moisture-laden area of low pressure sweeps in from the southwest. Significant rain chances arrive by Thanksgiving afternoon and linger into Friday. Medium-range models are showing a healthy .5-1.5″ of rain through next Friday. Tonight: Clear and cold. Low: 35°. Wind: Light. Sunday: Sunny and warmer. High: 66°. Wind: SW 5-10. Sunday Night: Another cold night. Low: 37°. Wind: SW 5-10. Monday: Beautiful. High: 70°. Wind: SW 5-15. Gusts: 20+
