2 dead, 1 injured in singleengine plane crash on Storm Mountain in Larimer County

LARIMER COUNTY, Colo. Two people were killed and a third person seriously injured after a single-engine plane crashed into the side of Storm Mountain in Larimer County Saturday.As of late afternoon, rescue crews were still attempting to get the injured party off the mountain and into a waiting medical chopper, where they would be airlifted to the hospital. Their condition is not known.The Larimer County Sheriff's Office said crews had to hike several feet amid rough terrain to reach the crash site on the mountain's rocky and wildfire-charred slope. The crash was first reported around noon. Debris can be seen scattered around the crashed plane.The aircraft is owned and operated by the Civil Air Patrol, according to registration information from the plane's tail number. The Civil Air Patrol is a federally chartered non-profit corporation.Data from FlightAware shows it took off from Northern Colorado Regional Airport and appeared to have circled the area several times before crashing.
