INDIANAPOLIS — Two people were injured in a shooting on the near north side of Indianapolis Saturday morning.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department has confirmed that its officers responded to the 3400 block of Broadway Street — which is located near the intersection of North College Avenue and East 34th Street — just before 6 a.m. on a report of a person shot. When police arrived at the scene, they did not find any shooting victims.
At the scene on Broadway Street, however, IMPD officers located evidence that suggested shots were fired in the area.
Later Saturday morning, police received a report that indicated a person had walked into IU Methodist Hospital with gunshot wounds. When police made it to the hospital to investigate, they determined two individuals with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds had decided to seek medical treatment at the facility.
Investigators currently believe the two victims they found at IU Methodist Hospital were injured during the shooting that unfolded in the 3400 block of Broadway Street earlier in the morning.
IMPD reported that both victims were awake and breathing when officers found them. Police have not provided any additional updates on the victims' conditions.
IMPD's aggravated assault detectives are currently investigating the shooting. Law enforcement has not specified whether or not the injured individuals shot each other or if additional suspects were involved in the incident.
