North Carolina woman charged with murder stemming from death of 4yearold niece held in her care

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- A woman was arrested on murder charges in connection to the death of a 4-year-old in Kannapolis.
According to Kannapolis Police, officers responded to the 1600 block of Old Rivers Road in reference to the death of a child. The 4-year-old reportedly had been staying at the home of her aunt, 31-year-old Vanity Rubystine Williams, since October and was in the care of her at the time of her death.

Williams was initially charged with one count of felony child abuse and transported to the Cabarrus County Jail. On Friday, following preliminary state autopsy reports and consulting with the district attorney’s office, she also was charged with first-degree murder.
In Williams' arrest warrant, Cabarrus County court records state that she "unlawfully, willfully, and feloniously did of malice aforethought kill and murder (the victim)."
