Wisconsin woman sentenced to 1.5 years in federal prison as codefendant in fentanyl trafficking case

MADISON, Wis. (WFRV) - U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin Timothy M. O’Shea announced that a 37-year-old Wisconsin woman was sentenced to 1.5 years in federal prison by Chief U.S. District Judge James D. Peterson on Tuesday.
Simmeka Tibbs of Madison pled guilty to a fentanyl distribution charge on Aug 15. According to the release, co-defendant Lildre Brown had arranged to distribute heroin laced with fentanyl between Dec. 2023 and Feb. 2024.

The distributions were made on three separate occasions in the Madison area. Brown was sentenced to 85 months in federal prison on Nov. 7 in the case.
In one instance, co-defendant Nicole Sanders delivered nearly 100 grams of fentanyl, while in the other two, Tibbs delivered it for Brown. An investigation unveiled that Tibbs delivered Drugs for Brown regularly.

Judge Peterson noted that Tibbs brought a child with her while delivering drugs in one instance while emphasizing the serious crime of distributing a dangerous drug.
Sanders is scheduled for sentencing on Jan. 10. No more details were provided.
