The Detroit Lions may be 7.5-point road favorites against the 5-6 Indianapolis Colts, but that doesn’t mean it’s going to necessarily be smooth sailings for Detroit this week. The Colts are a team that likes to hang around, and with Anthony Richardson looking more comfortable after his benching, you just never know. Of the Colts’ 11 games played, 10 of them ended in a one-score game. And like any NFL team, the Colts have talent on their roster. Detroit may have the better roster overall, but there will be players on Sunday that will give the Lions a handful. So today’s Question of the Day is: Which Colts players raise the biggest concern for the Lions? My answer: Richardson is the easy answer on offense. Just read how Lions coach Dan Campbell described the challenge of bringing Richardson down when he tries to run. “He’s unique because, yeah, he can run, he’s got speed, he’s big,” Campbell said. “I mean, he’s really a tight end. He’s like a tight end that’s got speed and strength and explosiveness as a runner, but he can throw and he’ll sit in the pocket with his eyes downfield and throw. It’s not like (if) it’s not there, he just takes off and runs. So, he’s dangerous in both regards. Now, if you get him wrapped up, I talked about it the other day, you wrap him up around his shoulders, he’ll shrug you off, then he’ll take off and keep his eyes downfield.” There aren’t many quarterbacks in the NFL with those qualities. Maybe Josh Allen, and that’s it. On the defensive side, I’ve always been a huge DeForest Buckner fan. He’s right up there with the best of disruptive interior defenders. If the Lions aren’t careful, he can create negative plays on defense—he has four tackles for loss in just six games—and he can bring the type of interior pressure that can throw Jared Goff off his game.
