2024 marks the 98th year of kicking off the holiday season with Macy’s world-renowned Thanksgiving Day Parade, averaging an annual 3.5 million people experiencing it live along its 2.5 mile route in NYC and more than 50 million viewers watching it on NBC-TV and Peacock (hosted by the TODAY show’s Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb, and Al Roker), and a Spanish-language simulcast on Telemundo, from 8:30 am till noon (in all time zones), with an encore presentation on NBC at 2 pm. Acclaimed actress Alison Brie, the star of the Macy’s 2024 holiday campaign, will cut the ribbon to begin the celebration. Featuring 22 floats, 17 high-flying larger-than-life character balloons (including the debut of Minnie Mouse, Extraordinary Noorah and The Elf on the Shelf, Gabby, Goku, Marshall, and Spider-Man), 15 heritage and novelty balloons, more than 700 clowns, 11 marching bands, 10 performance groups, and a roster of some of the biggest stars in music and entertainment, this year’s event presents mainstage performances by award winners Jennifer Hudson, Kylie Minogue, and Billy Porter, and the casts of the Broadway musicals Death Becomes Her, Hell’s Kitchen, and The Outsiders, along with a signature synchronized dance routine by the iconic Radio City Rockettes. Also joining the parade are Bishop Briggs, Kylie Cantrall, Chlöe, Dan + Shay, Dasha, Jimmy Fallon & The Roots, Coco Jones, Walker Hayes, Loud Luxury, Ariana Madix, Joey McIntyre, Idina Menzel, Natti Natasha, T-Pain, Rachel Platten, Lea Salonga, The Temptations, The War and Treaty, Alex Warren, and Sebastián Yatra, dance sensation Charli D’Amelio and NYC Ballet Principal Dancers Tiler Peck and Roman Mejia, stars Jonathan Bennett, Liza Colón-Zayas, Cynthia Erivo, Cole Escola, Tom Kenny, Ginna Claire Mason, and members of the WNBA Champions New York Liberty, with Ellie the Elephant. And choreographer Shay Latukolan will create captivating dance performances for three featured floats and for the highly anticipated arrivals of Tom Turkey and Santa Claus, who, as always, ends the parade spreading joy and cheer from his sleigh, and ringing in the season.
