Congressman Neal weighs in on Trump's cabinet nominees

CHICOPEE, Mass (WWLP) - President-elect Donald Trump has announced many selections for his cabinet, after winning the election earlier this month against Vice President Kamala Harris, and some have caused quite a stir already.
The President's cabinet consists of 15 members, each leading an executive department, but the President nominates more positions than those 15.
At least three of the picks so far have faced allegations of sexual misconduct.
Congressman Richard Neal told 22News he believes there will be continued scrutiny. "The job of the United States Senate is not to simply accept a Presidential nominee. The Constitution lays out very clearly, that their job is to provide advice and consent as to what the nominee may offer to the country. So there is a very important role here for Congress and I am ever so hopeful the United States Senate will embrace it," said Congressman Richard Neal.
The creation of the Cabinet dates back to the beginning of the Presidency. Established in the Constitution, the Cabinet's role is to advise the President on any subject he may require relating to the duties of each member's respective office.
There is no deadline for nominees to be accepted before Inauguration Day. When Trump started his first term, he only had two confirmations for 26 nominations.
