SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - It's been a very warm November, despite cooler temperatures the last week or so. While most of us saw rain, some snow did fall in the Berkshires and the hills, a sign of things to come as we get closer to December. A soaking rain finally fell across western Massachusetts Thursday and while most of us saw plain rain it's not that unusual to have snow this time of year. That's why now is a good time to make sure your car is ready for winter weather. Windshield wipers are a big thing, you want to make sure your wipers are good so you can see through the windshield," says Service Manager Mike Lapite at City Tire in Springfield. "Make sure you have plenty of windshield washer fluid in case you have to clean your windshield off, tire pressure is huge as well make sure you can see you're at the manufacturer's air pressure all the time." Right now is also a good time to put snow tires on your car. At City Tire in Springfield, they've been pretty busy lately. "A lot of people have been coming in to have their snow tires changed over or buying snow tires just getting prepared, right now is around the time people start," Lapite adds. You should also have your battery checked or your car might not start when the weather gets much colder.
