Man gets 40 years in prison related to Jan. 2023 murder

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A man was sentenced Oct. 25 in connection with a January 2023 homicide investigation.
According to Travis County court documents, 37-year-old Eric Lamountain received a prison sentence of 40 years for a first-degree murder charge after pleading guilty to the offense.

The charge was related to the Jan. 10, 2023, death of 37-year-old Gavin Wood, who was shot to death in north Austin following an altercation with Lamountain, according to police.
Toward his sentence, Lamountain received a jail credit of 655 days.
As of Saturday, Lamountain remained booked in the Travis County jail awaiting transfer to a Texas Department of Criminal Justice facility.
