MADERA, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A new vibrant holiday tradition recently established its roots in Madera - the county announced on Nov. 14 they planted their very first Christmas tree at the Madera County Courthouse Park.
The young pine is planted near the courthouse's palm tree, and the county says they plan to decorate the pair during tree lighting celebrations in the future.
The tradition is set to grow each year, literally; the future Christmas staple of Madera is a coastal redwood and could grow up to 350 feet.
The young redwood was donated by the Madera Evening Lions Club and can be found in the heart of the city at 210 W. Yosemite Ave., in Madera.
