Well, we started the week with another crushing defeat for the Chicago Bears, this time a 20-19 loss to the rival Green Bay Packers. As the team prepares to take on the Minnesota Vikings this Sunday, Caleb Williams and the Bears are looking to snap a four-game losing streak and keep their season alive. The Jussie Smollett case came to a surprising conclusion Thursday, with the Illinois Supreme Court overturning the former “Empire” actor’s convictions for allegedly staging a hate crime against himself. In other local news, the Cook County Board passed a $9.94 billion budget for 2025, closing the $218 million projected shortfall without program cuts, layoffs or raising taxes. Meanwhile, the city of Chicago continues its own budget efforts, with the mayor proposing a revised $150 million property tax hike and a 35% tax hike on liquor sales. President-elect Donald Trump continued to announce his picks for key positions in his second administration this week, nominating wrestling mogul Linda McMahon to be secretary of education and selecting Dr. Mehmet Oz, a former TV talk show host and heart surgeon, to head the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. After Matt Gaetz withdrew his name from consideration amid scrutiny over a federal sex trafficking investigation, Trump on Thursday tapped Pam Bondi to be U.S. attorney general. Without further ado, here’s the Tribune’s Quotes of the Week quiz for the week spanning Nov. 10 to 16. Missed last week? You can find it here or check out our past editions of Quotes of the Week. The quotes team will be taking a break next week for the holidays, but we’ll be back with another quiz the first week of December. Until then, have a nice Thanksgiving and take care out there!
